This family had a bad beginning to our meeting. They traveled from out of town and decided to have their family photos taken at the studio – great idea right? Trouble was that the train announced last stop at a station, which wasn’t theirs and to make matters worse it was in the industrial part of Long Island City, where you can get easily lost between BQe entrance, railway cutting the town in 2 parts and subway overpasses making crossing the street a challenge. Throw into the mix a light rain and a double stroller with 2 14 month olds and subtract elevators and cab ( none in the area). What do you get? We thought the family would come in frazzled and stressed out… nope.
Big smiles on their faces, apologetic for being late and grateful for the experience. Amazing how the right mindset gets the job done. Twinsies were so cute and rolled in a classic 1 year old style – wanting to toddle around, keeping their hands busy and wanting everything other than sitting down together 🙂 To be expected. We ran around putting them back in their places, playing tickles and making the strangest sounds with our mouths that we could think of. We had had dance and jump around just to bring some smiles. Here they are…. lost, tired but with positive attitudes ready for their Christmas cards.
Oh how much we enjoy working with Kathie! She has been bringing Ava to our studio since she was born, so we got very excited to meet her second little princess. Ava truly shocked us when she came back after her initial session – she had a lot of hair when she was born, but it was breathtaking to see her come back with a full on, curly, bushy gorgeousness. Ava’s hair stops people on the streets to ooh and aah over it. Her little sister Laila was born with a full set of hair and she resembles Ava, so maybe she will have beautiful, full curls too. We surely hope she does.
Annabelle is 1 already. This wonderful family seems to have walked into our studio just yesterday, when they were expecting their first son Owen. Fast forward to today and look who’s a big brother? Owen is head over heels in love with his sister. He was very helpful choosing the best hair accessories and telling Annabelle she needs to look beautiful for her pictures. He also tried his best to be a big brother and give her hugs and kisses, while baby Annabelle just wanted to walk around the studio and explore. This of course changed as soon as the cake came out. Annabelle knew exactly what to do – hands, cake. What else would one need ? She enjoyed the frosting with both hands and feet, while poor Owen watched worriedly hoping there will be some leftovers. Which of course there were.
